Fic rec: An Empty House is Not a Home

snapedom, but at the time, the community was under friends-lock thanks to some idiots who were trolling one of the posts. I would like to help the story make the rec count for the Daily Snitch, so I decided to rec it here on my journal as well.
I selected this particular story for the Snapedom weekly fic rec because December's discussion theme is Lily, and many of us find it difficult to comprehend how he could love Lily to the point that he'd still be obsessed about her twenty years later. I like this story because it takes into account Snape's canon obession with Lily, and forces him to question whether his feelings for her were really love, and if he is capable of falling in love with someone else.

Summary: Five years since the fall of the Dark Lord, Severus has his own apothecary but lacks love in his life. Will his second chance at life bring him to the love that he believes he has for Lily Potter?
A really sweet, lovely story where Snape is greeted in the afterlife by Lily, who tells him that he is being given a second chance at life because he hasn't yet loved. Over his protests, he is sent back to Earth, where he eventually strikes up a friendship with Remus Lupin...and a chance for something more. Also features an adorable little Teddy Lupin. One of my favorite lines in the story: "It just seems odd to me that you're in love with a woman who never once showed you one bit of affection inside of school grounds." Although it's not that Lily is a bad person, but more that Snape has to realize the real reason why he's been fixating on her for so many years.
