Update on the Digital Manga hiatus
Following up on the Digital Manga hiatus, Brigid Alverson at Robot 6 posted a brief interview with Yoko Tanigaki, Digital’s vice president for sales and distribution. She gives a bit more information about the hiatus, though not much. (I've summed up the major points below.)
One big thing is that the books that eManga sells will now be downloadable rather than just streamed, which is a big plus. There will also be a rewards program in which buyers can earn points on their purchases (5 percent of the price paid). I'll have to check out the details when the changes go into effect (by Nov. 30th), but this may be enough incentive for me to finally start buying from them.
Tanigaki said that a few of the titles on hiatus will be published digitally, including "Moon & Blood, vol. 4, Lies Are a Gentleman’s Manners, and Vampire Hunter D, vol. 7 and few others." (No word on what the "few others" might be.) And there were apparently some titles scheduled for September and October release that haven't been released yet, and Tanigaki confirmed that they have already been printed and "should be hitting the store shelves any day now." (Again, no specifics on what those titles are.)
