Manga/anime wishlist for the holidays
I'm too tired to write up a review or come up with a lengthy post, so tonight I'm borrowing a topic from the Manga Bookshelf Forum: What's on your manga wishlist for the holidays? (I'm stretching "manga" to also include anime here.) Here's my wishlist that I replied with on the forum:
Heart of Thomas by Moto Hagio - Deluxe hardcover editon of a BL classic. I'm probably going to end up buying it, but it's a bit pricey, so it would be nice to get it as a gift!
Sakuran by Moyocco Anno - I've been on the fence about buying this one. I like Moyocco Anno and the art looks great, but the story sounds like it might be a little grim for my tastes.So it would be perfect if someone gave it to me for Christmas! (It's about a young girl sold into a brothel in feudal Japan, who eventually becomes an elite courtesan. See this spoiler-filled review by Sean Gaffney to see why I might find it grim, although Gaffney seems to think there is some hope mixed in with the bleakness.)
Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You – Volume One Premium Edition dvd set (and heck, as long as this is a wish list, I'd take volumes 2 and 3 too!) - I already love the manga, so I'd love to see the anime. Again, it's a bit pricey, so it would be a perfect gift.
However, my family and friends don't usually buy manga or anime for me (because they either don't know anything about it or because I have so much stuff that they don't know what I already have unless I drop blatant hints). So I would also be happy with an Amazon or B&N gift card so that I can go out and buy manga for myself! ^_^
