NCIS LA, Hagetaka
There was a very amusing plot point in NCIS LA tonight, at least for someone who's a Harry Potter fan...
Assistant Director Granger gets into a car crash, and it turns out that he was acting erratically because he was poisoned with...wait for it...aconite, also known as wolfsbane! Which of course is an ingredient in the Wolfsbane Potion in the HP novels! There was no Harry Potter connection in the show, but I found it pretty funny as an HP fan in general, and a Snupin fan in particular.

And episode 5 of Hagetaka, OH MY GOD so much happened!
I realize that this will probably not make sense to anyone who has not watched the drama, which is probably all of you reading this, but it was so intense I just have to vent about it even if it's only to myself. When the series is over (after the next episode), I will try to write up a detailed recap of each episode, because oh man, I still want to write Hagetaka fanfic more than ever now!
So for now I'm just going to babble briefly: OMG, Alan totally backstabbed Washizu! Although to be fair, Washizu committed the first betrayal by secretly going against the orders of his superiors at Horizon, the investment firm that employs them both. How and why he disobeys orders is rather complicated and better saved for the recap, but it's an attempt to save a particular Japanese company (that Horizon is trying to buy out) and atone for his part in the death of the factor owner who committed suicide while he was working at Mitsuba Bank. Alan is shocked and outraged when he finds out, and given the choice between loyalty to Washizu and loyalty to Horizon, he chooses Horizon and informs them of what Washizu has done. Which then leads to Washizu being fired and Alan getting his job as the president of Horizon's Japanese branch! OH THE DRAMA! And oh the heartbreak, for me as a Washizu/Alan shipper, although I had suspected all along that Alan would choose ambition over personal loyalty to his boss. And though it's kind of heartbreaking for me, at the same time, the scheming and betrayals were intense and suspenseful and kind of awesome from a narrative standpoint.
And if that wasn't enough, at the very end of the episode, Washizu gets shot by the son of the owner of the inn that Horizon took over in episode 1! (That owner committed suicide also.) It wasn't really that shocking, since the shooting is shown in a flash-forward in episode 1, although the shooter wasn't revealed until this episode. Also not too worried about Washizu since I know he appears in a movie that's a sequel to this series, otherwise I'd have a hard time bearing the tension until the final episode airs.
My head is spinning with fic ideas for how to rewrite things to bring Washizu and Alan back together, while still wondering what's going to happen to Washizu in the final episode. Man, I love this show so much and want to write fic for it so bad--but I really need to finish my Yuletide assignment before writing fic for an obscure J-drama that no-one's heard of!
(Not complaining about Yuletide though--my recip's prompt is totally awesome and I have the basic outline in my head and a decent chunk of story written. I just need to buckle down and get it done, and stop getting distracted by new and shiny plot bunnies--I'm also talking to you, Onozuka! I probably shouldn't have opened that new Haru tankoban until I was done with Yuletide, but I couldn't resist.)
