My Yuletide gifts: Burnt and Sweetness & Lightning

Summary: Life has been stressful recently. Kouhei has been feeling the brunt of it, but Yagi really has been feeling off lately. Tsumugi doesn't make things better when she teases her dad that Yagi likes him. He is surprised when Yagi reveals several things while drinking out.

I have been shipping Kouhei and Yagi ever since seeing the anime, so I was delighted with this fic! Yagi really is quite a devoted friend in canon (cooking for Kouhei, looking after Tsumugi), and I like how the author expands on that and has Kouhei realize that all the little things that Yagi has done for him over the years are expressions of his love. I also love that Tsumugi reacts almost exactly as I imagine her doing, matter-of-factly stating that Yagi likes Daddy and that she's okay with that. She is so adorable, and I 100% believe that she would notice that Yagi likes Daddy way before Kouhei would, since he is pretty oblivious to that sort of thing.

Summary: Adam comes down with a cold. Tony comes down with love. (They find each other in the middle.)

I was so stoked to see this because I've been shipping Tony and Adam like burning ever since I saw the movie earlier this year! I really felt for poor Tony and his unrequited love for Adam, so I was thrilled to get a story in which they get together post-canon. There are so many things I love about it: hurt/comfort with Tony looking after a sick Adam, who is a really lousy patient; Tony being skeptical about Adam's change of heart and Adam having to persuade him to give them a chance; and Reece, rude and blunt as ever, but a good friend to both Adam and Tony, in his own way. It's the perfect ending that I wish that the movie had! (And I do love Helene, but I was rooting for Adam/Tony even though I knew it wasn't going to happen. I like to think that all three of them would continue to be friends, as they are here, if Adam and Tony got together.)
