Yuletide recs: Burnt
There were a total of four fics written for Burnt (the movie about a temperamental genius chef played by Bradley Cooper) this yuletide, two in the main collection and two in Madness, and all of them were awesome! I'm so stoked that my new-to-me little fandom got so many fics!
when i run a fever, you bring the cold water (Tony/Adam): This one was my gift, which I loved. Post-canon fic in which Tony takes care of a sick Adam, who predictably is a lousy patient. After years of suffering from unrequited love, Tony is more skeptical than overjoyed and needs some convincing when Adam finally returns his feelings. (I, however, was unabashedly overjoyed!)
like apples and oysters (Adam/Reece): I OTP Tony/Adam, but I also like the contrasting ship of Adam/Reece, who are intense rivals whose feelings seem to border on hatred at times, masking the deeper feelings of friendship beneath. This fic tells the story of their complicated relationship beautifully, starting with Adam's self-destructive years in Paris (in which he hurts both himself and the people who care about him) and ending post-canon with the more mature Adam trying to make their relationship work this time around. And bonus points for Fry, the adorable dalmatian that Reece adopts!
Pancake Philosophy (Tony/Adam): Adam makes pancakes for Tony. As sweet and fluffy as the title and summary implies, but I also like the slight hint of tension in the way that Tony gradually tests the bounds of their relationship with the questions that he does (and doesn't) ask Adam during their pancake breakfasts.
Parisian Nights (Tony/Adam, unrequited): A beautiful though heartbreaking ficlet set during the pre-canon time when the younger Tony, Adam, and Reece were working together in Paris. Tony pines for Adam, and you see how he can't help but be drawn to Adam's brilliance even though he knows it's a very bad idea.
