Yuletide Reveal

Here is the story that I wrote for Yuletide this year:

The Good Wife (14219 words) by geri_chan
Fandom: In Death - J. D. Robb
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Eve Dallas/Roarke
Characters: Eve Dallas, Roarke (In Death)
Additional Tags: Case Fic, Romance
Summary: Roarke always helps Eve with her police work, so when Roarke has a business problem, Eve wants to help him for once, even if she's not exactly sure how.

This is the third time I wrote an In Death fic for Yuletide, but I never get tired of revisiting this fandom! One of the prompts that my recip Aishuu gave was "I'd be interested in Eve helping Roarke with his life, since we see so much of him helping with hers in canon," and that really intrigued me. Roarke always helps Eve with her police work, and every so often she feels a little guilty about taking him away from his work, so I really loved the idea of Eve helping out Roarke for a change!

Another suggested prompt was the Nadine/Morris pairing, which sparked a whole new ship for me! I had never pictured them together before, but I once I started thinking about it, I really liked the idea of them together. They've got different personalities, but I think those differences would complement each other nicely. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to write a full Nadine/Morris fic, but I did enjoy getting to write a little about the beginning stages of their romance, and Morris being ready to find love again after losing Amaryllis.

As I mentioned in the end notes, it was an odd coincidence that the next In Death book will also feature Roarke building a school to expand his An Didean shelter for children. I swear I had not read about it before starting this fic! I'd like to say great minds think alike, but it would be a bit presumptuous to put myself on the same level as J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts. ;-) Still, it was a funny and timely coincidence!
