Bones ramblings

On this previous Bones post, I bitched about how I was getting tired of seeing a different intern on the show every week.

Lore replied on my IJ: "As for the revolving interns, I think it's still a little early for them to replace Zach, both for the characters and the viewers. We all loved Zach and seeing them trying to warm up to someone new will be hard. I have a feeling they might try to introduce someone new at mid-season. Also, remember, Zach didn't REALLY kill that guy. There's room there for him to come back, if they went that way." (I would link to the comment, but IJ ate it. Stupid comment rot! >_<)

And that's a good point. It's hard to just replace a beloved character like Zach, but I have to credit the writers/producers for coming up with a clever compromise: there's no permanent replacement, but I've noticed that they're rotating through the same batch of temporary interns, so there's some continuity without actually replacing Zach. I have to admit that I have a soft spot for the depressed goth guy (I think his name is Fisher) and the British guy (Mr. Nigel Murray) who spouts off useless random facts. I know they're supposed to be kind of annoying, but they're annoying in a cute way, and well, with Nigel Murray, I have to admit that for me as a shallow American, a British accent always sounds kind of hot. ^_^ I also like Clark, the intern who is so normal that he seems out of place in the lab. I love how he's totally appalled by how the regulars share (in his opinion) way too much personal information in the workplace. They'll be talking about their sex lives or something, and he'll be like, "Can we please get back to work?" And then Angela kind of started sexually harassing him when she was trying to go celibate, so he brought his hot girlfriend to work to show her, "See, I'm taken!" I thought it would have been funnier if he brought in a hot guy and told her, "See, I'm not only taken, I'm gay, so leave me alone!" But that's just the slasher in me, I guess! ^_^

A few weeks ago, they had that episode where Angela's daddy (the ZZ Top guy) comes to town, and everyone thinks he's there to kick Hodgins's ass for breaking his daughter's heart. It ends with Hodgins waking up in the desert with a tattoo of Angela on his arm--presumably Daddy got him drunk, gave him the tattoo, and dumped him in the desert. In the next episode, he's back at work like nothing happened, and I shouted at the tv, "Wait a minute--how the hell did he get out of the desert?!"

Am I the only one wondering about this? Are we supposed to assume that Daddy left him nearby his car, or that he was close enough to the highway to hike down and hitch a ride back to town or something? Or he was able to call for a ride, although I kind of doubt that there's good cell phone reception in the desert? Maybe I'm making too big a deal out of it, but I was sort of expecting to see some kind of follow-up in the next episode. Something like he doesn't show up for work the next morning and everyone wonders what happened to him and if Billy Gibbons Daddy Montenegro offed him, and then he shows up several hours later looking sunburned and half-dead.

My mom and I watch the show together every week, and Mom keeps asking, "Are we ever going to find out how he got out of the desert?" ^_^
