***
After lunch, Onozuka of course insisted on helping Ryoko with the dishes. Kikuchi muttered, "Suck-up," under his breath, but Onozuka pretended not to hear, and exerted the full force of his princely charm on Ryoko, who made pointed comments about what a thoughtful and helpful young man Onozuka-san was.
However, despite his grumbling, Kikuchi was actually quite pleased that Onozuka was getting along with his parents so well. At least, Kikuchi's parents liked Onozuka, and Kikuchi hoped that there was a bit of sincerity beneath Onozuka's princely act.
After Onozuka was done with the dishes, Kikuchi offered to show him the old bedroom that he and Kojiro had shared while growing up. "Should I be worried that you want to show me your bedroom?" Onozuka asked, once they were out of earshot of Kikuchi's parents, feigning a shy and nervous look.
"You're a good actor, but not good enough to convince me that you're a virgin worried about protecting your virtue," Kikuchi said dryly. "Especially when you've already given up your alleged 'virtue' to me on numerous occasions. Besides, I'm not going to have sex with you when my parents are in the house."
"Well, Kikuchi-san, you have shown some exhibitionist tendencies," Onozuka defended himself. "I've been worried that some of Katou's pervertedness has been rubbing off on you."
Kikuchi scowled at the mention of Katou, and Onozuka smirked, proving that he had done it on purpose to provoke Kikuchi. He leaned over and whispered into Onozuka's ear, "I'll get perverted with you later, Yuu," and smiled with satisfaction when Onozuka blushed and shivered slightly
Actually, Onozuka needn't have worried about his virtue, since Kikuchi's childhood bedroom was hardly sexy. His and Kojiro's beds were still there--his parents hadn't gotten rid of them, since Kikuchi and his brother occasionally slept over during holiday visits. But the beds were too narrow to hold two people comfortably, although not so narrow as to make sex impossible.
Not that Kikuchi had ever had sex with anyone in that bed, unless he counted his own right hand. But now that Onozuka had put the idea into his mind, he wouldn't mind giving it a try. So really, didn't that make Onozuka the perverted one?
Kikuchi and Kojiro had taken most of their possessions with them when they had moved out, but there was still an old, faded movie poster tacked to the wall on Kikuchi's side of the room, and a poster of Kojiro's favorite baseball team on the other. A model car that Kojiro had built sat on the desk they had shared, and some of their old books and manga volumes remained on the shelves, although most of the space had been taken up by their mother's books (novels, cookbooks, and books on gardening and tea ceremony) and their father's fishing books and magazines.
"It seems...very ordinary," Onozuka observed, sitting down on Kikuchi's bed.
"What were you expecting?" Kikuchi asked with a grin as he sat down beside Onozuka. "Something more glamorous? Or maybe something more perverted?"
"No, nothing like that," Onozuka laughed. "It's just that it looks like a normal kid's room. Did anyone ever think back then that you'd grow up to be an award-winning actor?"
"No one but me," Kikuchi replied, still grinning. "I had a very high opinion of myself back then, but my father thought I was delusional, and my teachers kept trying to persuade me to choose a more practical career. My mother was supportive once she saw that my mind was made up, but I know she worried about me winding up a penniless, unknown actor."
"What about your brother?" Onozuka asked.
"He said that if I ever got famous, I should introduce him to some hot actresses!" Kikuchi laughed. "Which I actually did, although nothing ever came of it. For myself, of course, I prefer hot actors." Onozuka raised his eyebrows, and Kikuchi amended his words. "Or rather, one hot actor in particular."
He leaned over and kissed Onozuka, who returned the kiss briefly, but pulled away when Kikuchi tried to prolong it. "Your parents, remember?" Onozuka said, firmly pushing him away.
"You're right," Kikuchi sighed regretfully.
They returned to the living room and chatted with Kikuchi's parents for awhile, until Kikuchi finally said, "We should be going soon." Onozuka was careful to keep his expression pleasant and polite, but Kikuchi noticed a flicker of relief in his eyes.
"Are you sure that you can't stay longer?" Ryoko asked, looking a little disappointed. "It would be lovely if you could stay for dinner."
"We would love to, Mom, but I'm afraid that we have plans for tonight," Kikuchi said gently.
"I'm sure that they must be busy getting ready for the movie, Ryoko," Nobukazu said.
"Of course you're right, dear," Ryoko sighed. Then she said to Onozuka, "It was wonderful to meet you, Onozuka-san. Please stop by again sometime."
"Thank you, Ryoko-san, I will," Onozuka replied graciously. He bowed to Kikuchi's parents and said, "It was a pleasure meeting both of you."
"Likewise," Nobukazu said politely.
"Wait, let me pack some of the leftover curry for you to take home," Ryoko said, bustling off to the kitchen.
"Maybe they already have dinner plans," Nobukazu called after her.
"Then they can always have it tomorrow, or save it in the freezer for a later meal," Ryoko called back.
"Mom always insists on giving me and Kojiro leftovers to take home when we visit," Kikuchi explained with amusement to Onozuka.
"The food was delicious," Onozuka assured Ryoko when she returned with a couple of plastic containers filled with the leftovers. "We'd love to take some home; it's very kind of you."
Ryoko flashed a triumphant look at her husband and son, and Kikuchi thought to himself, with a combination of amusement and trepidation, that now he really had to make the relationship with Onozuka work, because his mother might never forgive him if he broke up with Onozuka.
"It's a pity that Kojiro wasn't able to stop by for lunch," Ryoko said regretfully as she saw them out. "I told him that you were coming by today, but he said that he had a big case he was working on and couldn't get away."
"It's okay, I'll introduce Yuu to him some other time," Kikuchi said.
"I can hardly wait," Onozuka said sweetly.
They said their goodbyes and left, after Kikuchi first checked to make sure that there were no paparazzi lying in wait, or any nosy neighbors spying on the house. Although that usually wasn't a problem--most of their neighbors knew that the Kikuchis' eldest son was a movie star, and it pleased them to know someone famous, but they weren't the type to report Kikuchi's family visits to the tabloids. They respected Nobukazu, and felt that having a police officer living in the neighborhood made it safer, and Ryoko was close friends with several of the housewives living on the block--much like Onozuka, she managed to charm nearly everyone she met, except that with her it was natural rather than calculated.
In any case, the street was quiet and empty, and they were able to leave without incident.
"God, that was exhausting!" Onozuka groaned, slumping back in the passenger seat as they drove away.
"Didn't you like my parents?" Kikuchi asked, pretending to be hurt.
Onozuka glared at him and said, "Your parents are very nice people and I liked them just fine. But springing that kind of surprise on me is not funny!"
"It wasn't a joke," Kikuchi protested, although he had to admit that he had enjoyed seeing Onozuka taken off-guard. "I just wanted you to meet my folks."
"Well, you should have warned me," Onozuka grumbled sulkily. "I would have liked to have prepared myself ahead of time."
"You didn't have to work so hard at the princely act, you know," Kikuchi said with a grin. "I'm sure that my parents would have liked you just fine as you are."
Onozuka snorted derisively, sounding more like his normal self. "Somehow I kind of doubt that."
"Don't let my mom fool you," Kikuchi said. "She likes to act sweet, and for the most part she is, but she also has a sly sense of humor."
"Well, now I know where you got it from!" Onozuka said with a wry smile. Then he added gruffly, "Anyway, they're your parents. Of course I want to impress them."
"That's very sweet, Yuu," Kikuchi said, leaning over to give him a quick kiss while they were stopped at a red light.
"It's going to take a lot more than sweet talk to make me forgive you," Onozuka retorted. "And please tell me that you don't have any other surprises planned for this weekend--I'm not sure that I can take any more!"
"Nothing more surprising than a candlelight dinner tonight at home," Kikuchi said with a grin. "I was planning to cook for you tonight, but since you liked Mom's curry so much--" Kikuchi's cell phone rang, interrupting their conversation, and he said, "Hang on, let me find a place to pull over; I need to get this."
He had recognized the ringtone as his brother's, and he answered the phone with, "Hey, Kojiro, what's up?" as Onozuka raised his eyebrows.
"Hey Big Bro," Kojiro replied cheerfully. "Sorry I couldn't make it over to the house today. I have a murder trial coming up, and I needed to review my case files. But if you want to stop by my place, I could take a break and we could have a couple of beers."
"I don't drink when I'm driving," Kikuchi replied. "But sure, I'll stop by."
"Gee, Niisan, you've become so straight-laced since you went to America," Kojiro joked. "You gave up smoking and drinking--"
"I still drink, just not when I have to drive," Kikuchi interjected.
"What's next, are you giving up sex, too?" Kojiro continued, ignoring the interruption.
"That is something I would never give up," Kikuchi said fervently, and his brother laughed.
"Hey, can you pick up some sushi or something on the way?" Kojiro asked.
"What, do you think I'm your personal delivery boy?" Kikuchi retorted good-naturedly.
"Ooh, excuse me--I guess that's beneath the dignity of the big movie star," Kojiro teased.
"An award-winning movie star," Kikuchi said in a lofty tone, and Kojiro snickered. "I have some of Mom's leftover curry--is that good enough?"
"Sure, I'm always happy to eat Mom's cooking."
"Okay, I'll see you in a little while," Kikuchi said, and ended the call. He turned to Onozuka and apologized, "I'm sorry, but..."
"We're going to see your brother, right?" Onozuka finished with a sigh of resignation. "And don't think that it's escaped my notice that you didn't tell him that you were bringing a guest."
Kikuchi returned Onozuka's scowl with a mischievous grin. "Don't worry; my parents liked you, and I'm sure Kojiro will, too. I told you that he's cool with me being gay."
"Are there any other relatives you'd like me to meet today?" Onozuka asked sarcastically. "Any grandparents, aunts, uncles, second cousins...?"
"No, that can wait till the next family reunion," Kikuchi replied with a straight face, and laughed at Onozuka's expression, which wavered between skepticism and alarm, as he tried to figure out whether Kikuchi was joking or not.
"There had better be some damn good sex tonight if you want there to be a next time," Onozuka threatened, then slouched down in the passenger seat with an adorably sulky expression on his face.
"I will make you scream with pleasure, Yuu," Kikuchi promised, in a husky whisper that caused Onozuka's face to turn a bright red.
"Promises, promises," Onozuka retorted, but he squirmed slightly in his seat, and Kikuchi grinned with satisfaction.
***
Eventually Onozuka stopped sulking and starting asking Kikuchi what his brother was like as they drove over to Kojiro's apartment. He was still a little angry--and also a little worried about the implications of being introduced to Kikuchi's family--but he set aside those feelings to concentrate on the immediate goal of how best to win over Kikuchi's brother.
Kojiro, he was informed, was a prosecutor with a strong sense of justice, which had probably been inherited from their father. But when he wasn't cross-examining a suspect, he was friendly and easygoing. He loved baseball and soccer, and of course, fishing.
When they arrived at Kojiro's door, he greeted his brother with a cheerful smile that quickly turned into an expression of shock when he saw Onozuka.
"This is my co-star, Onozuka Yuu," Kikuchi said with a grin.
"I'm sorry to impose on you this way," Onozuka said politely, bowing. "Kikuchi-san insisted that he wanted to surprise you--and your parents as well, earlier."
"Oh no, it's fine," Kojiro immediately replied, but there was a hint of discomfort and nervousness beneath his polite words.
"I told you that you should have warned him," Onozuka hissed to Kikuchi, who shrugged, looking a little puzzled, but Kojiro was already ushering them into the apartment.
Onozuka soon saw the reason for the awkward moment. The living room table was covered with files, papers, and photographs--Kikuchi had said that his brother was preparing for a trial--and seated at the table was a man who looked a few years younger than Kikuchi. He was handsome, although not movie-star stunning, and wore glasses that gave him a serious, scholarly look.
The man looked vaguely familiar, but Onozuka didn't recognize him until Kikuchi exclaimed, "Kenji?!"
"Katsuya?!" Kenji exclaimed, looking equally shocked. Then both men turned to glare accusingly at Kojiro.
"Heh heh," Kojiro laughed sheepishly. "Um... Onozuka-san, this is Kawaguchi Kenji--he's a pathologist who's testifying on a case that I'm trying. Kawaguchi-san, this is Onozuka-san, who's co-starring in Niisan's new movie. And...well, of course you and Niisan know each other..."
There was a brief, awkward silence--not surprisingly, since Kawaguchi was the man who had sparked Kikuchi's "gay scandal." He was ten years older, of course, and his hairstyle and clothing had changed, but he was still recognizably the same man from the photos that had been plastered all over the tabloids a decade ago.
Onozuka was the first to recover, and he bowed and said with exquisite politeness, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kawaguchi-san."
"Ah...yes, it's nice to meet you, too," Kawaguchi replied. There was another awkward pause, and he added, "It's good to see you again, Katsuya."
Onozuka felt a surge of jealousy and anger at hearing the other man address Kikuchi so casually and intimately, and had to struggle to keep the polite smile on his face. Meanwhile, Kikuchi was saying wryly, "Well, it seems that Kojiro and I both decided to surprise each other today."
"Let me heat up the food and get some drinks," Kojiro said, laughing nervously. "Onozuka-san, will you help me?"
"Of course," Onozuka replied sweetly, although the last thing that he wanted to do was leave Kikuchi alone with his ex-lover. The way that the apartment was set up, he was at least still able to see the living room through the open kitchen doorway, but on the other hand, he didn't want to be caught spying on the two of them like a jealous lover.
Even if he was a jealous lover. Besides, he didn't want to give Kikuchi the satisfaction, since the bastard would surely gloat if he caught Onozuka watching.
Still, Onozuka couldn't resist one quick glance back, but regretted it when he saw Kikuchi briefly touch the bracelet on his left wrist in what seemed like a reflexive, unconscious gesture as he sat down at the table next to Kawaguchi.
After that, Onozuka pointedly ignored them and concentrated on helping in the kitchen. Kojiro put the curry in the microwave and got out some plates, while Onozuka filled four glasses with ice, and took out some bottles of beer and iced tea from the fridge.
"I'm sorry," Kojiro apologized. "I happened to be working with Kawaguchi-san, and I thought that I'd give him and my brother a chance to meet. I didn't know that Niisan was seeing anyone..."
"We're just coworkers," Onozuka lied automatically, but Kojiro gave him a shrewd, knowing look.
"Really?" he asked slyly. "Because my brother usually doesn't bring over coworkers to meet me, even when I beg him to introduce me to some cute actress he's working with."
"That's what your mother said, too," Onozuka admitted, and Kojiro laughed.
"Don't worry, I'll keep quiet about it, if that's what you're worried about. I'd never sell anyone out to the tabloids, not after the hell that they put my brother through."
"They put your whole family through hell, from what Kikuchi-san has told me," Onozuka said sympathetically. "He feels really bad that his scandal affected his family."
"Oh, it wasn't that big a deal," Kojiro said casually. "I had to deal with some gossip and rude remarks, but the fuss died down after Niisan went to America, and it didn't really affect my career."
"He was worried that he cost your father a promotion," Onozuka said.
"Oh, Dad said he'd much rather be a detective than a bureaucrat, anyway!" Kojiro laughed. "He hated dealing with paperwork!"
Onozuka wondered if Kikuchi's father had been putting a good face on things to spare his son's feelings, but he just smiled in response. He hesitated a moment, then asked, "So...do you think that Kawaguchi-san still has feelings for Kikuchi-san?"
"Oh, I'm sure he hasn't been pining broken-hearted for the past ten years," Kojiro said hastily. "We're not really close friends or anything like that, but we've worked together on a few cases, and from time to time he'll ask me how Niisan is doing. I didn't necessarily think that they'd want to get back together, but I thought that maybe they could find some closure. They didn't exactly part in the best of ways, considering the circumstances." He added sheepishly, "In hindsight, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to surprise them like that, but I didn't think they'd agree to meet if I told them about it in advance."
"You're a meddler, Sensei," Onozuka said playfully, using the polite term of address for a lawyer.
"I suppose I am," Kojiro laughed, then glanced over at the living room. "But at least they seem to be getting along okay."
Onozuka turned to look as well, and saw Kikuchi and Kawaguchi conversing, even laughing in a friendly manner, and he felt another surge of jealousy that seemed to tie his insides into knots, and the savory scent of the warmed curry suddenly made him feel sick, as if he would throw up if he tried to force down a single bite.
He gripped the counter so hard that his knuckles turned white, and he took a few deep breaths to get himself under control and fight the nausea.
"Onozuka-san?" Kojiro asked in a concerned voice. "Are you all right?"
"I'm fine," Onozuka replied, taking one last deep breath before he looked up and smiled, arranging his features in his princely mask. He had been doing it for so long that it had almost become second nature.
"It was silly of me to arrange a surprise meeting for Niisan and Kawaguchi-san," Kojiro apologized again. "I don't know what I was thinking."
"Well, it's partly his fault for surprising you as well," Onozuka said lightly. "Please don't worry about it. If you're ready, shall we join them?"
***
Kenji cleared away the mess on the table while Kikuchi pulled up a chair and sat down. He absentmindedly ran the fingers of his right hand across the bracelet on his left wrist, and he wasn't really aware of what he was doing until Kenji said, "I never thought that you'd still be wearing that after all these years," in a voice that managed to be sad, wry, and a little nostalgic, all at the same time.
Kikuchi suddenly realized what it must look like, and jerked his hand away from the bracelet. "It's not like I've been pining over you for the past ten years," he said hastily. "Er, no offense."
"None taken," Kenji replied wryly.
"I wear it to remind myself that I never want to live that way again," Kikuchi explained. "Lying, hiding, being ashamed of who and what I am. And I never want to hurt anyone the way that I hurt you. I really am sorry about that, Kenji."
"I know," Kenji said quietly. "And I know that you were in a difficult position, but I couldn't keep living a lie, either."
"I understand that now," Kikuchi replied. "I'm just sorry that you had to get caught up in my scandal."
Kenji shrugged. "Well, I knew that I was taking a risk by having an affair with one of the most famous actors in the country, but I admit that I wasn't really prepared for the fallout."
There was a brief silence where they both struggled to think of something to say, and then Kikuchi laughed and said, "I'm going to kick my brother's ass when I get him alone! What did he think he was doing, playing matchmaker? Sneaky little bastard."
That broke the tension as Kikuchi had intended, and Kenji grinned. "Don't be too hard on him; I'm sure that he meant well. And as for being sneaky...don't you think that you might have been a bad role model for your little brother?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Kikuchi protested innocently.
Kenji laughed, then glanced over towards the kitchen, where Onozuka was pouring some drinks and conversing pleasantly with Kojiro. "He's cute," Kenji said. "So he's your new boyfriend as well as your co-star?"
"What makes you say that?" Kikuchi countered, neither confirming nor denying Kenji's guess.
"For one thing, you brought him to meet your family," Kenji replied. "And for another, I don't think he'd be so jealous of me if you two were just coworkers."
"He doesn't look jealous," Kikuchi said doubtfully, feeling a little offended that his lover wasn't being more outwardly jealous over him meeting an ex. "He isn't even looking at us."
"It's more the way that he's very pointedly not looking at us," Kenji said dryly. "It's natural to be curious about you running into an old boyfriend, especially since I was involved with the scandal. The fact that he's acting like he doesn't care proves that he does care, if you know what I mean."
"That's rather convoluted, but I think I get it," Kikuchi chuckled. "You're pretty good at analyzing live people as well as dead ones!"
"Be kind to him," Kenji said in a more serious voice. "He seems like a nice kid, and he must really like you to risk his career this way. I don't keep up with all the entertainment gossip, but even I've heard of the Golden Prince."
"I am kind to him," Kikuchi protested, and Kenji gave him a skeptical look. "Besides," Kikuchi defended himself, "the Prince isn't as sweet and innocent as he seems. He has quite a sneaky streak himself."
"Then the two of you must be well-suited to each other," Kenji retorted.
"Yes, we are," Kikuchi chuckled. "What about you, are you seeing anyone?"
Kenji nodded. "Yes, a professor at the university."
"Another pathologist?"
"No, he teaches in the Literature Department, actually," Kenji replied. "We happened to meet at a university fundraiser party. It's kind of nice to talk about something other than dead bodies in my spare time, actually."
Kikuchi laughed, then asked, "Is it serious?"
"Yes, we've been together for a couple of years," Kenji replied. "I guess I should have mentioned it to your brother, but we don't really talk about personal stuff much. Are you and Onozuka-san serious?"
"I introduced him to my family, didn't I?"
Onozuka and Kojiro returned with the food and drinks just then. Onozuka served the drinks, then sat beside Kikuchi, smiling sweetly, but Kikuchi could see the underlying hint of ice beneath his outward warmth. That boded ill for him later, but Kikuchi wasn't too concerned, because he was sure that he could melt that ice into heat once he got Onozuka into his bed.
As with Kikuchi's parents, Onozuka made an effort to be friendly and charming with Kojiro and Kenji, but Kikuchi saw subtle signs that the strain was beginning to show, and he cut their visit short after about half an hour. Normally, Kojiro would have urged Kikuchi to stay longer, but given the awkward situation, he didn't protest.
"I'm sorry," Kikuchi said, once they were in the car and driving back to his apartment. "Honestly, I didn't plan that!"
"Maybe you were trying to make me jealous," Onozuka replied, gazing at him suspiciously.
"I swear that I didn't know Kenji would be there!" Kikuchi promised. He paused for a moment, then asked, "By the way...were you jealous?"
"Not in the least," Onozuka replied coldly.
"Good," Kikuchi replied, although he sensed the lie and was pleased by it. "Because there's no reason to be jealous. He has a steady boyfriend, and I have you."
Onozuka gave him an uncertain look, as if he were wondering what exactly he was to Kikuchi, but then he sniffed disdainfully and turned away to stare out the passenger window. They spent the rest of the trip in silence, although Kikuchi found Onozuka's sulking more cute than offensive or worrisome. He supposed he had been a bit cruel to Onozuka today, but promised himself that he'd make it up to his lover tonight.
When they got within a few blocks of Kikuchi's apartment building, Onozuka crawled into the back seat and ducked out of sight, but it turned out that the precaution was unnecessary: there were no paparazzi lying in wait. Maybe since nothing had happened during all the time that they'd been watching him (at least as far as they knew), they had given up and moved on to more promising targets.
Onozuka continued to sulk after they got home, but eventually mellowed over dinner and a bottle of wine. "No more surprises from now on," Onozuka warned, waving his fork at Kikuchi in a stern but playful manner.
"I'm sorry," Kikuchi said, bowing his head humbly.
"No, you're not," Onozuka retorted.
"Well, I must admit that I'm glad I got to spend time with my family and that you got to meet them," Kikuchi laughed. "They really liked you. I think my mother would gladly trade me in for you!"
"That goes without saying," Onozuka quipped, but then his expression turned a little wistful. "You have a nice family, Katsuya," he said quietly. "You're lucky to have them."
"I know," Kikuchi said solemnly, remembering what Toshi had told him about Onozuka's family. He wished that there was some advice he could give Onozuka, or even just offer a few words of sympathy, but of course he couldn't do so without betraying Toshi's confidence and getting them both into trouble. So he laid his hand over Onozuka's and gave it a comforting squeeze, then lifted it to his lips and kissed it tenderly.
"I seem to recall that you made some promises to me today," Onozuka said huskily. "Something about doing perverted things to me and making me scream...?"
"I am a man of my word," Kikuchi promised, and Onozuka finally relented and gave him a real smile.
"Then what are you waiting for?"
***
Onozuka moaned and gasped as Kikuchi thrust into him, deeply but much too slowly for Onozuka's taste. Usually he accepted Kikuchi's teasing as part of their foreplay, but tonight he felt impatient and needy and a little angry, the way that he had the night that Kikuchi had flirted with the groupie. Except that Kawaguchi was an even greater threat than the groupie--he wasn't just a potential one night stand, he was someone that Kikuchi had cared about, and maybe still cared about, if Onozuka was right and that bracelet had been a gift from Kawaguchi.
"Damn you, fuck me harder, Katsuya!" Onozuka growled as he wrapped his legs tighter around Kikuchi's waist and dug his nails into Kikuchi's back.
Kikuchi gasped and said, "Aren't you the one who always says 'don't leave any marks'?"
"I checked the schedule," Onozuka retorted. "They should fade before we shoot the love scenes. But if you'd just give me what I want, then there wouldn't be any marks to begin with." He raked his nails down Kikuchi's back, and Kikuchi cried out. "Damn it, Katsuya, please," Onozuka groaned. He had promised himself beforehand that he wouldn't beg, but he never managed to keep such promises once he was in bed with Kikuchi.
"I need..." Onozuka moaned, but he couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence out loud. Partly out of what remained of his pride, and partly because he didn't want to admit it, even to himself. I need to know that you want me, not him. Or at least that you want me more than you want him.
Kikuchi kissed Onozuka deeply, then began thrusting into him hard and fast without holding back, and Onozuka let out a startled cry of pleasure--he hadn't expected Kikuchi to give in that easily. "Yes, oh yes, just like that, please, more," he heard himself babbling incoherently, no longer concerned about his pride.
If it was any consolation, Kikuchi wasn't much more coherent--he just moaned, "Yuu, Yuu," over and over again, which reassured Onozuka that Kikuchi was thinking about him and not Kawaguchi. That allowed him to let go of his worry and jealousy, at least for the moment, and throw himself wholeheartedly into their lovemaking, clawing at Kikuchi's back and buttocks, trying pull Kikuchi into him as deeply as he could. He had never really believed that romantic crap about two people becoming one, but he could almost understand it now--he felt consumed with the scent and touch and taste of Kikuchi, their bodies writhing and bucking together frantically, almost violently, and Onozuka still wanted more. It wasn't enough to just have Kikuchi's cock buried inside him, as good as that felt. He wrapped his arms and legs around Kikuchi, trying to get as much contact with him as possible, feeling almost like he wanted to absorb Kikuchi beneath his skin and into his body, consuming him whole.
Except that sounded kind of weird and gross, like some alien monster in a sci-fi movie, and Onozuka would have laughed at himself if he hadn't been too busy getting fucked to within an inch of his life. Actually, he'd die happy if Kikuchi would only let him come...
And then Kikuchi thrust hard into him, and Onozuka was coming, screaming, "Katsuya!" as he felt Kikuchi shudder and come inside him, whispering, "Yuu," in a hoarse voice as he slumped across Onozuka's body.
Onozuka trembled and panted softly, trying to catch his breath--a process not helped by the weight of Kikuchi's body pressing on top of his, but it felt so good that he couldn't bring himself to object.
Finally, as Onozuka's breathing slowed to nearly normal, Kikuchi raised himself up on one arm and gently kissed Onozuka. His smug smile might have annoyed Onozuka if Kikuchi's voice hadn't sounded a little shaky when he said, "Well, I managed to make you scream. Was that perverted enough for you, my Prince?"
"That will do for now," Onozuka said magnanimously, pulling Kikuchi down for another, lengthier kiss. "I suppose I'll forgive you for being such a bastard today."
"Lucky for me that I'm good in the sack," Kikuchi chuckled. His fingers reached out to lightly caress Onozuka's neck and chest, and to toy with the silver chains still strung around his neck.
"Yes, you are," Onozuka said, shivering with pleasure. "Lucky, that is." He had thought that he was too exhausted for another round of lovemaking tonight, but now he was beginning to have second thoughts.
"And good in the sack?" Kikuchi persisted.
"That too," Onozuka conceded
"Say, Yuu?" Kikuchi asked, his expression suddenly sobering.
"Yes?" Onozuka asked cautiously, wondering what had caused the change in mood.
"Thank you for meeting my family today," Kikuchi said.
"You didn't exactly give me much choice," Onozuka said dryly.
Kikuchi had the grace to look a little sheepish--if he wasn't totally faking it, which was always a possibility with an award-winning actor, especially a sneaky bastard like Kikuchi. "Still, you went along with it, and did your best to make them like you," Kikuchi said. "So...thank you."
He seemed uncharacteristically serious, and Onozuka stared at him for a long moment, then decided that he actually meant it. "You're welcome," Onozuka replied. "I liked them, too. Just...next time, give me some warning, okay?"
Kikuchi grinned and asked, "Does that mean you're willing to visit them again?"
What the the hell am I getting myself into? Onozuka wondered. He turned his head to the side, breaking eye contact, and said gruffly, "Yeah, I suppose so, as long as none of your ex-boyfriends show up."
"There aren't that many of them," Kikuchi protested.
"Liar," Onozuka said.
"Regardless, I'll keep them all away," Kikuchi promised. "And I swear I'll kill my brother if he tries to pull a stunt like that again!"
Onozuka relaxed and turned back to face Kikuchi, laughing, "Please promise me that we'll have a real free day tomorrow, just the two of us: no visits, no families, and no ex-boyfriends!"
"I promise," Kikuchi replied, grinning. "Tomorrow I am all yours, and we can do whatever you want."
"What I want is to not leave this apartment tomorrow," Onozuka said firmly. "And to leave this bed as little as possible."
"Your wish is my command, your Highness," Kikuchi purred, wrapping his arms around Onozuka and pulling him close.
Onozuka laid his head against Kikuchi's chest and sighed. He was sticky and sweaty and he sort of wanted a shower, but he felt so content lying in Kikuchi's arms, feeling the warmth of Kikuchi's body, that he didn't want to move. His eyelids felt too heavy to stay open, so he allowed them to fall shut, deciding that he really was too tired for a second round of sex, after all. But that was all right, because they had all day tomorrow to make love as many times as their bodies could manage.
As Onozuka drifted off into sleep, he thought he heard Kikuchi whisper, tenderly and possessively, "You belong to me, my Prince," but by that point, he was no longer sure whether it was dream or reality.
THE END
Next story in the series: Gigolo (Part 1, Part 2)
***
Afterword: Since Kikuchi's ex-lover Kenji is a forensic pathologist, I made his surname "Kawaguchi" in homage to actress Sawaguchi Yasuko, who plays a forensic scientist named Sasaki Mariko in "Kasouken no Onna" ("Woman of the Crime Lab"). (I didn't want to name him "Sasaki," since that's Toshi-chan's last name, so I took the actress's last name and changed the first letter.) Sawaguchi also played Chihiro's mother in the Studio Ghibli film "Spirited Away." (Incidentally, the actor who played the father was also one of the forensic team members in "Kasouken no Onna.") If you watch the "making of" extras on the dvd, there's a hilarious segment where Sawaguchi's character has to talk with her mouth full, and for added realism, Sawaguchi ends up saying her lines while munching on some Kentucky Fried Chicken!
ETA 3/18/10: Argh, I totally fail--I just realized that Mariko's family name is actually "Sakaki," not "Sasaki," so I could have used that name for Kenji, after all! In my defense, the wiki used the incorrect spelling, and it had been a long time since I had watched the show, so I didn't catch the mistake until now.
Onozuka addresses Kikuchi's brother as "sensei"--the standard term of address for a lawyer. "Sensei" is usually translated as "teacher," but it can be used as a sign of respect for anyone who is an expert in his or her field, including an author like Mizutani-sensei, or in canon, Sawa-sensei. (Doctors and politicians are also respectfully addressed as "sensei," btw.) An interesting trivia fact that didn't make it into the story is that all Japanese lawyers wear a small gold sunflower badge, usually on the lapel of their suit jackets, as a sign of their profession. (Which I learned from a detective show where the murderer was a lawyer and lost her badge at the crime scene.) Other professions use similar badges--members of the Diet (the Japanese legislature) wear chrysanthemum badges. (This also figured into another detective drama where--you guessed it--the criminal was a Diet member who lost his badge while committing a murder.)
Actually, now that I think about it, Onozuka should probably be addressing Kojiro as "kenji" ("prosecutor"), not "sensei," but since there's already a character named "Kenji," that might be kind of confusing, so I'll leave it as is.

we can bounce off some ideas if you want to!(since I am requesting I felt responsible and guilty and excited all at the same time and ended up offering help; I do not think I am actually useful in that regard though!!!!!!)
on this one, I have to say, despite Kikuchi's slyness (that was still quite heart warming!) the concept was too homely(?!!)and romantic and good-natured and the rhythm somehow slow for my taste. however, the plotting and the writing were both excellent(as usual!)
I am keeping up my enthusiasm for the upcoming ...(maybe!) Onozuka-opening-up-session(???)
Anyway, Thanks a lot dear and I AM Looking forward to whatever you decide to write!

As for jealous!Kikuchi--it's like you're reading my mind! I actually do have plans for Kikuchi to eventually confront Onozuka about his feelings for Miyasaka, but it won't happen until they get back from filming in Okinawa. So it may be another two or three fics down the line, but I do have plans for a big confrontation. His jealousy of Katou will gradually increase, too--it just takes longer for him to show it, because he's better at hiding his jealousy than Onozuka is.
Thank you for reading and for all your feedback! ^_^

That was kind of mean of Kikuchi, but fortunately Onozuka likes the fact that he's evil. And I must admit that I kind of enjoy torturing Onozuka, heh heh!
I like your comment about Kikuchi trying to get rid of Onozuka's masks--it made me think of peeling layer after layer of masks off, like an onion, since you're right about him having quite a few.
Thanks so much for all your nice comments! No promises, but I'll try to have another fic ready by the time you're back online. ^_^
(And btw, your icon is adorable!)
