Snapedom community
Just thought I'd mention, in case anyone on my friends list is interested, that I recently joined the
snapedom community, which is fairly new. It's basically a Snape discussion group, and they have some interesting essays and reviews there. No fanfic or fan art posting is allowed, although members can make recs once a week on Fridays. It's not specifically slash-oriented, but discussion of all ships relating to Snape, both slash and het, are allowed.
I should warn Lily fans that there's a pretty strong anti-Lily sentiment over there. A lot of people seem to think that she wasn't a very good friend to Snape, and I do admit they have a few good points I hadn't considered before. She smiles in the Snape's Worst Memory scene, when James turns Snape upside-down and exposes his underpants--it didn't bother me when I first read Book 5, because I had assumed that she and Snape were only casual aquaintances, but if he's her best friend, she shouldn't be laughing at him getting pantsed. And then when she does come to his aid, she doesn't try to break the spell and get him down, but lets him hang there while she argues with James--some people feel this is more of a courting ritual between her and James than any real aid to Snape, There are more arguments, but since this is just a quick pimp for Snapedom, I won't go into too much detail. You can find more discussion on the community about it if you're interested.
I also wrote a Snape/Lupin essay for the community--nothing earth-shattering, and if you're a longtime Snupin shipper, I'm sure you've heard it all before. But I wanted to explain to people who aren't necessarily into Snupin why I like the ship and how these two characters could possibly get together.
EDIT:
metafandom has a link to an excellent essay that does a good job of trying to objectively look at the issue of Lily ending her friendship with Snape.
