geri_chan | Dear Yuletide letter

Encouraged by Snapelike, I've decided to sign up for the Yuletide fest for the very first time! I'm really excited and a bit nervous, but I'm really looking forward to it, so here is my "Dear Yuletide Writer" letter (which is also cross-posted on IJ):

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thanks so much for volunteering to write a fic for me! Please feel free to take a look around my journal if you'd like to see what kinds of stories I like. You can find my Fanfic Masterlist here, and the fics are also tagged by fandom and/or title in the sidebar. As you can see, I mostly read and write m/m slash. All three fandoms I've requested are BL manga series, so hopefully you're okay with that, but if you prefer, I would be perfectly happy with a gen story, too!

Likes: Love stories with happy endings. Romantic fluff is fine, but I also like angsty fics--as long as they eventually end happily. For gen, I have a soft spot for stories about family or friendship. For both romance and gen: humor, drama, hurt/comfort--it's all good, as long as it ends happily. If you decide to write romance, I'm fine with any rating--explicit, steamy sex scenes are great, but I'm happy even if it doesn't go beyond a kiss or fade-to-black. The emotions that the characters share are more important to me than the level of physical affection.

Dislikes/squicks: Character death, noncon, infidelity, mpreg (not really expecting that in these fandoms, but just to be on the safe side). And I generally don't read BDSM unless I'm familiar with the author and know how they'll handle it. Also, it's not a big squick, but I'm not really into threesomes--I'm more of a "two people find true love" kinda gal.

Fandoms/characters/pairings:

Boku no Koe (Sound of My Voice): Hosaka/Yumi is my favorite pairing, but Wataru/Renji is fine, too. I'm also intrigued by the supporting characters Tanahashi, Kokubu, and Yaogi--if you want to pair them off, any combination is fine, but I'm cool with gen as well. I'm happy just to get a story in this fandom so anything you want to write will be great, but if you'd like some prompt suggestions, I'd love to see how either of the canon couples handles being outed, or just seeing how their relationship develops as it gets more serious. Tanahashi seems cool and collected--I'd love to see what lies beneath that surface. For Kokubu and Yaogi, I'd like to see how they handle Wataru becoming a serious rival for acting jobs. Kokubu seems to handle it well when he loses a role to Wataru in canon, but maybe he seeks comfort from Tanahashi in private?

Embracing love (Haru wo Daiteita): My OTPs are Kikuchi/Onozuka, Iwaki/Katou, and Mochimune/Miyasaka. Yoshizumi's one of my favorite characters, and I love Yoshizumi/Kenzaki if you're willing to do a crossover with When a Man Loves a Man, otherwise I'm cool with Yoshizumi being paired with just about anyone in the series who isn't married, or just a gen fic featuring him. Those would be my top character choices, but I would be thrilled with a story featuring any Haru character(s) because I love them all!

Prompt suggestions: I'd love to see Kikuchi and Onozuka having lovers' quarrels for the pleasure of making up later--maybe one day it goes too far and a fake quarrel becomes real, or maybe their coworkers get fed up with all the drama and decide to teach them a lesson. With Iwaki/Katou, I enjoy seeing Katou doing romantic things for an embarrassed Iwaki, or Katou wanting Iwaki to be more romantic. For Mochimune/Miyasaka, I'd love to see how Miyasaka handles being with a man for the first time, and Mochimune being his usual arrogant, manipulative self. With Yoshizumi, I like seeing how a lover (or potential lover) handles his aversion to romance--or him just getting comically nauseated by the romantic couples around him. Gen is great, too--I'd love to see fics about Iwaki or Katou's families, or Kaneko and Shimizu commiserating over a drink about a tough day at work, or any combination of actors working on the set of a movie or tv show, or Urushizaki spying on Iwaki and Katou.

When a Man Loves a Man (Otoko ga Otoko o Aisuru Toki): My favorite character is Kenzaki, followed by Shinkawa and Ishii, but feel free to write about any character(s) you want. I like Kenzaki/Shinkawa, and Kenzaki/Ishii would be fine, too. And as mentioned above, I also love Kenzaki paired with Yoshizumi from Haru. Other pairings are fine, and I'm also happy with gen--for example, the characters competing to become the top host at their club (or top host in the entire business if they're really ambitious).

I want to emphasize that all these prompt suggestions are only suggestions--I want you to feel free to follow your muse, and if you come up with an idea that's completely different, it will be all the more exciting for me because it's a surprise! I love these fandoms, but there aren't many people writing fic for them, so I promise I will be thrilled with whatever you come up with! ^__^
