16. Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

I don't particularly like or hate them--they're just a necessary part of the header, like a pairing or rating. Sometimes I do feel a little frustrated that I usually can't come up with anything that sounds witty or exciting or attention-grabbing. Occasionally I'm able to add a little hint or tease that will hopefully make a potential reader more curious about the fic: "Remus prepares a special Valentine's treat for Severus, but things go awry..." for Chocolate-Covered Werewolf, or "Iwaki is honored to be cast in Ninagawa's latest Shakespeare production...until he learns which role the director wants him to play" for Much Ado About...Something?

But overall, they're mostly pretty utilitarian--a brief description of what happens in the story. For example, "Iwaki and Katou spend their first Christmas together" for Kentucky Fried Christmas, or "Severus is offered the chance to return to Hogwarts after the war is over" for Homecoming.
