27. Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

I'm most comfortable writing at home, in my bedroom using my laptop (a MacBook Pro). But I usually do carry a notebook when I go out in case I'm struck by inspiration when I'm at work or out shopping or whatever. I like to collect notebooks with pretty covers, and it makes me feel very "writerly" to go to a coffee shop and work on a story while I'm sipping a latte, or sometimes I'll spend the day at the mall shopping and jot down some notes while I'm having lunch at the food court. However, typing the written draft into the computer is kind of a pain--it's like having to write the story twice--so I find it more convenient to just work directly on the computer most of the time.

I tend to use my notebooks more for when I'm translating manga. I'll write out the romaji in pencil or black ink, double-spaced to leave room for the translation. Then I'll look up the words I don't recognize and fill in the definitions in colored ink, and then I'll type up the finished translation on my computer (rearranging the sentence structure and sometimes paraphrasing so that it makes sense in English). But I haven't tackled any major projects recently, since most of my time is taken up with writing my ongoing Haru fanfic series.
