National Blog Posting Month + Yuletide
Well, it's November, and I'm going to try to make it through National Blog Posting Month once again! Today's topic: Yuletide.
Last year I signed up for the Yuletide fanfic fest and had a blast! Is anyone on the F-list planning to participate this year? Nominations should be opening soon, and I've been agonizing over what fandoms to nominate since everyone is limited to 3 nominations this year. I could easily use up those three on Youka Nitta fandoms alone (Harudaki, Boku no Koe, When a Man Loves a Man, Fuyu no Semi), but don't want to use them all up if no one else is interested in them. I'll probably just stick with Haru and maybe Fuyu, since there seems to have been some interest in them in the past, while I don't think anyone but me and Snapelike has written Boku or WMLM fics. And there's always Petshop of Horrors, I suppose, unless the mods decide it's not rare enough.
I put out a few feelers for Nitta fandoms and Genju no Seiza on the Fandom Pimp Post, but got no responses. Then again, with 16 pages of comments, they could easily have been overlooked. Surprisingly, there seem to be one or two other people interested in the Dolls manga, so I'll probably nominate that one, having written a Dolls/Petshop of Horrors crossover in the past. There are some fandoms being pimped that I'd like to read but wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable writing: Jim Hines's awesome Princess series of fantasy novels (I need to rec those in a future post), the TV show MacGyver (I always secretly shipped Mac with the villain Murdoc), and the In Death mystery novels by J.D. Robb. But maybe I should try to stretch my wings a bit this year and try something new?
Anyway, if you plan to participate in Yuletide this year, you should probably start thinking about what fandoms you'd like to nominate and read/write.
