geri_chan | Half-Blood Prince casting

Normally I don't bother to post HP news on my journal, but I just thought I'd mention this because the actor sort of looks like how I imagined Theodore Nott in my mind. The Leaky Cauldron reported the other day that Tom Moorcroft was being cast as Regulus Black in HBP. (It didn't occur to me until later that Regulus doesn't show up until DH, but apparently he will appear in a photo in Slughorn's office, according to a later update.)

I clicked on the link to the actor's page at Spotlight.com and went, "Hey, you know he kind of looks like Theo." Some of my readers who visit my website or who know me from Yahoo Groups know that I "cast" singer Ben Jelen as Theo (see my new icon) in my Always series. I had a very specific image of Theo in my head, and one day I came across a picture of Ben and decided he looked a lot like Theo, except that he is a bit prettier than I'd imagined Theo, but I took care of that in the story by saying that people tended not to notice Theo's good looks because he was always sullen and scowling, at least until he's in a happier family situation in Aftermaths.

Moorcroft is still handsome, but less pretty, and in that particular picture, he's a little closer to the sullen image of Theo that I had in mind when I was writing him in Phoenix Rising. So if I'd seen him first, I might have "cast" him as Theo, although I'm quite happy with my "official" image of Theo, and I don't intend to change it. But I thought my readers might be interested in seeing an alternate version of the character.

Looks-wise, at least, I think he's a good match for Regulus. Hopefully we'll get to see more of him when they film DH.
