A few of my favorite (Christmas) things
Just a brief post today with a few of my favorite things to watch or listen to during the Christmas season.
Music:
Father Christmas by The Kinks, about a department store Santa who gets mugged by a bunch of poor kids who want money instead of toys for Christmas.
The first Jingle Spells album. There are several of them out now (I have the first three loaded on my iPod), but the first is still my favorite, and my favorite song off the album is "Christmas with My Mom and Dad" by Draco and the Malfoys, which is horrible but hilarious, with Draco gloating about how he's having an awesome Christmas with his parents while Harry's are "decomposing in their graves". (Yes, I have a twisted sense of humor sometimes.)
TV:
I always try to watch the Diagnosis Murder episode "Murder in the Family" near Christmas, in which Doc Sloan's estranged daughter comes home for Christmas. There is family drama, brother-sister squabbling and resentment, and of course the requisite murder, but in the end there is a heartwarming family reunion. Diagnosis Murder in general is my go-to series when I want lighthearted, feel-good entertainment (with bonus dose of family and friendship warm fuzzy feelings).
