Kikuchi and Onozuka had continued to meet during the next couple of weeks following their first date, but those encounters turned out to be as hasty and limited as the first. It was partly due to scheduling conflicts: Onozuka was a co-lead in his current series and had to spend a lot of time on the set, often working late into the night. Kikuchi wasn't currently working on a series or movie, but his agency had lined up a number of commercials, interviews, and talk-show and game-show appearances to keep him in the public eye. The result was that they could only manage to steal a few hours here and there when both of them were free.
But it was also partly by design on Kikuchi's part--he was deliberately taking things slowly. They hadn't even fully undressed each other yet, and they still hadn't gone beyond giving each other a hasty hand or blow job. He took a slightly sadistic pleasure in toying with Onozuka and watching his growing frustration.
It wasn't that Kikuchi didn't want to see the beautiful young actor laid out naked on his bed, and he badly wanted to fuck him, but he sensed that while Onozuka probably wanted him, too, he was still a little nervous about "going all the way". Kikuchi was sure that he could easily overcome Onozuka's reservations, but that wasn't good enough. He didn't want Onozuka nervous but willing--he wanted Onozuka to be so eager, so wound up with desire that he was begging for it. He wanted to shatter Onozuka's composure and make him completely lose control, to know that he'd driven all thoughts of Iwaki and Katou and Miyasaka out of Onozuka's head, to hear Onozuka scream Kikuchi's name as he came.
So he teased Onozuka, keeping their trysts passionate but brief, pleasing his lover but always leaving him just a little unsatisfied and aching for more. Each time they met, Onozuka's lingering nervousness decreased while his frustration increased, and Kikuchi judged that soon it would be time to fully consummate their relationship. In fact, if he waited much longer, Onozuka might lose patience and jump him, which wasn't an unappealing idea itself.
But for all that Kikuchi toyed with Onozuka, he had to admit that it was a challenge to hold onto his own composure at times. Lately, he'd been jerking off at night like a randy teenager, imagining himself buried to the hilt in Onozuka's willing body. It was a fun game, to see which of them would break down first; Kikuchi wouldn't really mind losing, but he was gambling that he'd come out on top.

For once, both Kikuchi and Onozuka had finished work early enough to spend a little more time than usual together, and Kikuchi cooked a late dinner for them, although Onozuka would have preferred to skip straight to dessert.
"You won't get any dessert unless you eat your dinner," Kikuchi said with mock-sternness, and Onozuka groaned but obeyed. As usual, they wound up on the couch after dinner, and Kikuchi gave Onozuka his promised reward. Onozuka moaned with gratifying enthusiasm, but was still well in control of himself. He did look lovely with his head tilted back and his eyes half-closed with pleasure, but he hadn't yet come completely undone, as Kikuchi wanted. Still, there would be plenty of time for that in the future, and Kikuchi was patient.
After Kikuchi brought his lover to orgasm, Onozuka happily returned the favor with a brilliant blow job. Kikuchi groaned as he came, glancing down to see a flash of smug satisfaction in Onozuka's eyes, before he caught Kikuchi looking at him and demurely lowered his gaze. Well, let the kid be proud--he'd certainly earned it; as Kikuchi had predicted, Onozuka had proved to be a quick study. His shy, awkward fumbling had vanished, to be replaced by an increasing sense of skill and self assurance.
Afterwards, Kikuchi discarded the used condom and zipped up his trousers, chuckling as Onozuka grimaced slightly and took a sip from his wineglass. He went through this ritual every time they had oral sex, and Kikuchi found it more amusing than insulting--Onozuka reminded him of a cat who had stepped in some offensive substance and was cleaning its paws with an expression of distaste.
Onozuka noticed his look and correctly interpreted it. "Sorry," he apologized with a smile that would have charmed away any ill feelings, even if Kikuchi had felt insulted to begin with, which he hadn't. "It's nothing against you, Kikuchi-san, but I hate the taste of latex."
"Some people would argue that semen doesn't taste any better," Kikuchi pointed out.
"Well, at least it would be a different sort of unpleasant," Onozuka said. He was still sitting on the floor, and he leaned back to rest his head against Kikuchi's thigh. "And at least it would be organic," he added with an impish grin.
"Well, we could try some flavored condoms next time," Kikuchi laughed.
Onozuka half-closed his eyes and practically purred with pleasure as Kikuchi ran his fingers through Onozuka's hair, reinforcing the cat-image. "Kikuchi-san, I've been thinking...I know that I'm clean, and I'm sure that you are as well."
"I am, but you should never take anyone's word for granted without proof," Kikuchi said sternly, lecturing the young actor like a grizzled veteran. "And no offense, Onozuka-kun, but I can't take yours for granted, either."
"Oh, I know that," Onozuka replied, unoffended. "But if we both got tested, then we could make love skin to skin, with nothing between us, right?" He brushed his lips against Kikuchi's thigh and smiled up at him seductively through his still half-lidded eyes.
Kikuchi felt a twinge in his groin, though it took him longer to recharge his batteries these days than it had when he was Onozuka's age. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "You do realize that there's no point in getting tested unless we're in an exclusive relationship, don't you?" He was pleased that Onozuka was the one taking the first step towards making their relationship more serious, but he didn't allow it to show on his face. Instead, he just grinned and asked jokingly, "Are you asking me to go steady with you?"
"Don't worry," Onozuka said, just as lightly. "I know that you aren't interested in a serious relationship, and I'm not proposing marriage or anything. But you aren't sleeping with anyone else right now, are you?"
"No," Kikuchi replied.
Actually, it was Miyasaka whom he'd told that he wasn't interested in anything serious--which meant that Onozuka really had been eavesdropping on them, something Kikuchi found both amusing and flattering--and a little stimulating, as he imagined Onozuka listening outside the bedroom door while he was in bed with Miyasaka. Kikuchi hadn't lied; he really hadn't been interested in anything serious...with Miyasaka. The kid was cute and likable, but he was also simple and predictable, traits which bored Kikuchi. Onozuka, on the other hand, was clever and conniving and intriguing--all traits that Kikuchi found fascinating.
However, he had already figured out that if he tried to reel his young lover in too quickly, the fish might slip off the hook and swim away. He was taking his time, letting the line play out before reeling it back in slowly, so that the fish wouldn't know he was captured until the net closed in around him.
"Well, neither am I," Onozuka was saying. "So since neither of us is seeing anyone else, why shouldn't we get tested and be able to enjoy ourselves without having to worry about these?" He reached over and flicked the open box of condoms still resting on the coffee table. "Let's just make a pact to be honest if either of us wants to start seeing other people, in which case, we'd go back to using protection."
"That sounds reasonable," Kikuchi agreed. "The only problem I'd see is that we'd have to be careful about where we get tested. When a famous actor goes in for an HIV test, it causes gossip, doubly so if that actor is gay--and triply so if a handsome young male actor also gets tested at the same time. There's supposed to be doctor-patient confidentiality, of course, but it only takes one nurse or receptionist to recognize us and sell her story to the tabloids."
"Or his story," Onozuka said with a grin. "We mustn't be sexist, after all. But seriously, it's not a problem. I have an old friend who's a doctor now and runs a small clinic."
"Are you sure your friend can be discreet?" Kikuchi asked doubtfully. "I'm sure he wouldn't mean any harm, but if he told just one friend, and that friend told another friend...well, you know how it goes."
"I completely trust him," Onozuka replied. "We've known each other since grade school, and besides..." Onozuka smiled slyly. "I have dirt on him. He knows that if he betrays me, his wife will see those pictures of his bachelor party, where things got a little out of hand. She thinks that his buddies just took him out drinking; she doesn't know about the strippers or the lap dances or..."
Kikuchi burst into laughter. "All right, set things up with your friend," he said, once he got himself under control. "Although I feel a little sorry for him, having a friend like you..."
Onozuka grinned wickedly at him for a moment, then sighed and pouted in an exaggeratedly childish manner. "You're so mean, Kikuchi-san; I'm a very good friend."
"Yes, I'm sure you're very good to all your friends," Kikuchi said placatingly, stroking Onozuka's hair. Although I'm also sure that doesn't stop you from gathering blackmail material on every one of them, he added silently.
"And you're mean to me in other ways," Onozuka complained, still pouting.
"How so?" Kikuchi asked, letting his fingers drift down to stroke the nape of Onozuka's neck, smiling as he felt the young man shiver with pleasure.
"Are you ever going to invite me into your bedroom?" Onozuka demanded, staring up at him accusingly. "And are you ever going to fuck me?"
Kikuchi burst into startled laughter. That was what he liked so much about Onozuka; that he was sly and subtle most of the time, but every now and then he would come out with a blunt statement or impulsive gesture that would take Kikuchi by surprise. One thing was sure--life with Onozuka would never be dull.
"Of course I want to make love to you, Onozuka-kun," Kikuchi said in a low, seductive voice, his fingers drifting up from Onozuka's neck to caress his cheek, which--along with the rest of his face--was taking on a very becoming rosy blush. "It's just that I had the impression that you hadn't gone all the way with a man before, so I was taking things slowly for your sake."
"That's very kind, but there's no need for you to treat me so delicately," Onozuka said, smiling up at Kikuchi in a sultry manner. "I'm not like Miyasaka, who's scared to lose his manliness if he lets himself be fucked."
"Good," Kikuchi said, pulling Onozuka up onto the couch so that he could kiss him. "Like I told Miyasaka, being on the top or the bottom has nothing to do with being a man or a woman, and if I wanted a woman, I wouldn't be sleeping with men."
"Lucky for you that I'm not a woman, then," Onozuka laughed, wrapping his arms around Kikuchi. He leaned in closer, until his breath warmed and tickled Kikuchi's ear as he whispered, "So...when are you going to make love to me, Kikuchi-san?"
"Not tonight," Kikuchi said, and he didn't have to feign regret. "You need to be on the set early tomorrow, don't you?"
"Not that early," Onozuka protested. "I can stay for a couple more hours."
"I'm flattered that you think so highly of my stamina, Onozuka-kun," Kikuchi replied with a smile. "But I'm not as young as I used to be, and I don't...ah...recover as quickly as you do."
"I don't buy that 'old man' act," Onozuka said, pouting again. "I think that Kikuchi-san is just being a tease."
"Well then, would you believe that when I make love to you, I don't want it to be rushed or hurried?" Kikuchi murmured, brushing his lips against Onozuka's neck. "I want to take my time with you, and wring every possible bit of pleasure out of your body."
Onozuka shuddered, staring at Kikuchi with eyes that had suddenly turned glassy with lust, and his tongue darted out to lick at his lips. "If you keep talking like that, I won't be able to wait," he said huskily.
"Then let's set a date and say that I'll make love to you after we get tested," Kikuchi suggested. "Let's do it properly and make love to each other skin to skin, as you wanted."
"You're using my own words against me!" Onozuka groaned. "All right, I'll call my friend, and we'll go get tested next Saturday."
"You don't have to work?" Kikuchi asked.
Onozuka grinned. "No, I'm filming my last scene next week. I never thought I'd be so glad to be unemployed!"
"But aren't there still a couple more episodes left before your series is over?" Kikuchi asked with a puzzled frown.
"Yeah, but I'm getting killed off," Onozuka replied. "Don't tell anyone; it's a big plot twist and I'll get in trouble if it leaks out before the episode airs." His series was a mystery thriller, in which he was playing the main suspect in a series of rape/murders. His character appeared to be toying with the police, taunting them with veiled hints that he was the killer, and mocking them because they couldn't prove it.
"So was your character a red herring?" Kikuchi asked curiously. "Or were you really the murderer, and one of your victim's loved ones killed you in revenge?"
"I can't give away the ending," Onozuka replied with a grin. "You'll have to keep watching if you want to find out the truth."
"Now who's the tease?" Kikuchi joked. "But seriously, isn't it risky to kill off one of the leads before the series ends? And won't it upset the female fans who tune into the show to see you?"
"It's a controversial move, but the producers figure that it will be good for the ratings," Onozuka replied. "Even the people who are angry that my character got killed off will keep watching, if only to find out who the real killer is. And technically, I'll still have screen time, but they'll be using flashbacks from previous episodes, so I won't need to do any more filming after my big death scene. So next Saturday?"
"All right, we'll make it a date," Kikuchi laughed.
***
Kikuchi rented a car that Saturday, rather than relying on a cab driver who might recognize them and leak the info to the press. Onozuka directed him to one of the poorer neighborhoods in Tokyo--not exactly poverty-stricken, but a little run-down and definitely on the lower end of middle-class. Like the rest of the buildings surrounding it, the medical clinic run by Onozuka's friend looked a little shabby, and Kikuchi began to wonder just how good a doctor this friend was. Still, he supposed that it didn't require all that much skill to take a simple blood sample.
They arrived in the evening, after the clinic was normally closed for business, and pulled up by the back entrance. "He's expecting us," Onozuka explained as they got out of the car. He was wearing what he called his "disguise" for going out in public: a t-shirt, jeans, and a rather ratty-looking denim jacket, with his trademark golden hair tucked out of sight under a knit hat. The disguise was remarkably effective; as long as one didn't look too closely at his face, there was nothing to distinguish him from any other anonymous young man.
Kikuchi was clad in similarly casual clothes, although Onozuka jokingly complained that he was too good-looking and that his star quality shone through the disguise, "So we'd better be careful to keep you out of sight."
"Flattery won't get you everywhere, Onozuka-kun," Kikuchi chuckled.
"I don't need to go everywhere," Onozuka retorted. "Although I am sort of hoping that it'll get me into your bedroom, Kikuchi-san."
"After the test results come back, as we agreed," Kikuchi said firmly, and Onozuka sighed.
"You dictated that; I didn't exactly agree," he grumbled, knocking on the door of the clinic.
It opened a moment later, and a young man in a white lab coat quickly ushered them in. He was about as opposite from Onozuka as one could get--where Onozuka was strikingly good-looking, his friend was plain; not exactly ugly, but his features were so average that he would never stand out in a crowd. Onozuka was blond, while the friend had black hair; Onozuka had a sly, almost fox-like face, while his friend had a round face with a friendly, open smile and eyes that seemed to convey a good-natured sense of humor without any guile.
"Yuu-chan!" the doctor exclaimed with a broad grin, throwing his arms open wide. "It's great to see you again! Too busy to visit your old friends now that you're a big star, huh?"
There was no malice in his words, only the sort of affectionate teasing that one might expect from a childhood friend, and Onozuka laughed, giving his friend a quick hug, and they clapped each other on the back.
"Hardly a star!" Onozuka protested modestly. "Not like Kikuchi-san, anyway! It's good to see you, too, Toshi-chan."
The young doctor stared at Kikuchi with an awestruck look on his face. "Wow, I can't believe that Kikuchi Katsuya is standing right here in my clinic! Yuu-chan and I used to go to your movies all the time! I remember that we cut class to go see 'Tokyo Countdown' when it opened..."
"And we were caught afterwards, and got detention and were grounded for the next two weeks, but it was worth it!" Onozuka laughed.
"And your dad said that I was a bad influence!" Toshi recalled.
"But it was really my idea to cut class," Onozuka said with a grin.
"Why does that not surprise me?" Kikuchi said dryly, feeling a little bemused to hear someone calling his sly, devious lover "Yuu-chan". And Onozuka seemed more open and relaxed with this Toshi than Kikuchi had ever seen him with anyone else, even Miyasaka. He felt a little jealous of their closeness and easy camaraderie, even though he knew that Toshi was married and nothing about him pinged Kikuchi's gaydar. Ah, the irony of it all--his former lovers would probably laugh if they could see him, jealous of a homely nobody, and a straight nobody at that.
"Well, in my defense, I didn't have to work too hard to persuade him to come along with me," Onozuka laughed. "But I'm being rude; let me introduce you. Kikuchi-san, this is my friend, Sasaki Toshihiko. And Toshi-chan, of course you know who Kikuchi-san is."
Toshi bowed deeply. "It's an honor to meet you, Kikuchi-san!" he declared.
"There's no need for formalities," Kikuchi said, giving the young man a pleasant smile. "Any friend of Onozuka-kun's is a friend of mine." It would be foolish to let his jealousy show, and there was nothing to be gained by antagonizing Onozuka's childhood friend. Besides, he couldn't really hate someone who regarded him with such obvious hero-worship.
"It's nice to meet you, Sasaki-sensei," Kikuchi said, holding out his hand, and Toshi shook it gingerly, looking like he might faint from the honor.
"If we're not being formal, there's no need to call me 'sensei,'" Toshi said, looking a little embarrassed, more like a schoolboy than a doctor. "It still seems strange to have people call me that," he added, with a self-deprecating little laugh.
"You must be a good doctor, though," Kikuchi said, figuring that a little flattery couldn't hurt. "You're very young to be running your own clinic." Even a clinic as small and shabby as this one, he silently added. The inside looked better than the outside, though--it was clean and painted in bright, cheerful colors, and there were drawings and paintings hung on the walls that gave the place a more personal touch, obviously done by children, presumably patients of the clinic.
"Well, to be honest, no one else wanted to run the place," Toshi confessed cheerfully. "The owner is the sempai of one of my professors, and I used to work here during the summers while I was still at university. He had to retire due to health problems, and his son wasn't interested in taking over--he already has a job at a big hospital--so the position was offered to me instead."
"Toshi-chan graduated near the top of his class, and he could've gotten a position at a big university hospital," Onozuka interjected. "But he wanted to make sure that the clinic stayed open, because a lot of people here rely on it."
"You're friends with many noble types, aren't you, Onozuka-kun?" Kikuchi said with a smile, and Onozuka made a face, knowing that Kikuchi was teasing him about Iwaki.
"Oh, I'm not noble at all," Toshi hastily denied, his face turning red. "Really, it's purely selfish--I couldn't handle the pressure and politics of working at a big hospital. I much prefer it here, where I can work at my own pace, and recognize all of my patients by face and name."
"Of course," Kikuchi said politely, but he was thinking to himself that Onozuka seemed to be drawn towards these simple, straightforward types--a case of opposites attract, he supposed. Did that bode ill for his and Onozuka's relationship, since they were much more similar than different?
"Anyway," Toshi said, quickly changing the subject, "Yuu-chan said that you guys were required to get a physical for some movie you're working on?"
"It's for insurance purposes," Onozuka lied smoothly. "The film is still in the planning stages, and it's all hush-hush, so we needed someone who could be discreet."
Kikuchi raised his eyebrows slightly; Onozuka hadn't told him about the cover story he'd invented, and it seemed unnecessary. It was true that the movie studios often did require an actor to have a bill of good health for insurance purposes, especially if a lot of physical stunts were involved, but any reasonably intelligent person could guess that the studios already had discreet physicians that they could rely on, without needing to ask a favor from a small neighborhood clinic. Nor was it standard practice to test an actor for STDs. Toshi might be straightforward, but if he'd graduated near the top of his class from medical school, he could hardly be stupid.
Still, whether out of naivete or politeness, Toshi accepted Onozuka's story without question and went through the charade of giving them both a standard physical before taking the blood samples that were the real purpose of their visit.
"Do you really need that much blood?" Onozuka complained as Toshi drew three vials out of his arm.
"Oh, don't be such a baby, Yuu-chan," Toshi scolded good-naturedly. "Kikuchi-san didn't complain. Of course, he's been shot at, stabbed, beaten up, dropped off a cliff, and nearly blown up several times, so I guess a needle is nothing compared to that."
"You do realize that was all make-believe, don't you?" Onozuka asked sourly.
"Yes, but the magazines said that Kikuchi-san did most of his own stunts," Toshi argued.
"Whenever possible," Kikuchi confirmed modestly.
"You see?" Toshi told Onozuka triumphantly. He withdrew the needle, slapped a bit of gauze and a bandage over the wound, and said, "Keep that on for about fifteen minutes. There, all done--that wasn't so bad, was it?"
"Your bedside manner leaves something to be desired," Onozuka grumbled, but his friend just laughed.
"Well, you both seem to be in good health," Toshi said cheerfully. "I should get the test results back in a few days; I'll send them to Yuu-chan when they come in."
Kikuchi tried to thank Toshi, but the doctor insisted, "It was no trouble at all; I was happy to have the chance to meet one of my favorite movie stars! Yuu-chan became an actor because of your films, you know."
"Not just because of them," Onozuka protested, blushing in an absolutely adorable manner. "Although I did love your movies, Kikuchi-san. It was watching movies in general that made me want to become an actor--I used to stare up at the screen, imagining what it would be like to turn into someone completely different, to become a new person with each different role." He was still a little embarrassed, but his eyes were gleaming with true passion, and Kikuchi was pleased to have gotten a glimpse of the real Onozuka.
"Well, now you have your wish, Onozuka-kun," he said, and Onozuka laughed.
"I suppose I do. Thanks, Toshi-chan; we should get going. I really appreciate the favor."
"No problem," Toshi replied. "Come back for a real visit sometime; Misa would be happy to see you, too. We'll have dinner and a few beers, and talk about old times." He paused and said hesitantly, "You're welcome, too, Kikuchi-san, although it wouldn't be anything fancy..."
"I'd love to meet Onozuka-kun's friends," Kikuchi replied; he assumed that "Misa" must be Toshi's wife. Then he grinned mischievously and added, "Maybe you can tell me some embarrassing stories about Onozuka-kun's childhood."
"Oh no, I'm not letting Kikuchi-san anywhere near you two," Onozuka groaned in mock-horror.
They said their goodbyes and were about to leave when Toshi called out, "Hey, Yuu-chan!"
"Yes?" Onozuka asked, turning back.
The doctor hesitated, then asked quietly, "Don't you think that it's about time that you forgave your parents and went back to see them?"
The relaxed expression on Onozuka's face hardened for a moment, before it slipped back into an easy smile, but Kikuchi recognized that it was fake, although it probably would have fooled anyone who didn't know him well, like Toshi, or who had been carefully studying him, as Kikuchi had.
"Shouldn't that be the other way around?" Onozuka asked lightly. "They're the ones who are angry at me." He explained to Kikuchi, "They didn't want me to become an actor."
"You know that your father is too proud to make the first move," Toshi sighed. "But you're a successful actor now, and I thought things might be different..."
"I appreciate your concern, Toshi-chan, but I called home after I won the award, and my father made it clear that I was still considered the black sheep of the family," Onozuka said, still smiling, as if it didn't bother him in the slightest. "If they want to talk to me, they know where to find me. Come on, Kikuchi-san; it's a long drive back home."
He turned to leave, but Kikuchi hesitated, wanting to learn more of this fascinating information about Onozuka's family, and Toshi blurted out, "My mom says that your folks are talking about making an arranged marriage for your sister!"
That stopped Onozuka in his tracks. "What are you talking about?" he demanded. "She's just a kid!"
"Not right away, of course," Toshi replied. "But they're talking about having Shiori-chan marry your dad's apprentice when she graduates from college, in order to carry on the family business."
Onozuka opened his mouth, as if to argue further, but then his gaze flickered towards Kikuchi, then back to Toshi, and instead he shrugged and said, "Well, I suppose that's her decision to make."
"Yuu-chan!" Toshi shouted indignantly. "As you said, Shiori-chan is just a kid--are you going to let your father pressure her into an arranged marriage?"
"I don't see what I'm supposed to do about it," Onozuka replied indifferently.
"Yuu-chan--" Toshi started to protest, but Onozuka cut him off.
"I'll call you, and we'll talk about it later."
"But--"
"I said later!" Onozuka snapped, and stormed out of the clinic.
Toshi sighed, staring after him unhappily. "I knew things were bad between Yuu-chan and his family, but..."
"Kikuchi-san!" Onozuka called impatiently.
"I'd better go," Kikuchi said regretfully. "I'll try to calm him down and have him call you." And see if he could find out more about Onozuka's family situation, although he suspected that would be difficult. "Thanks for your help."
"It was nice meeting you, Kikuchi-san," Toshi said politely, but he still looked worried about his friend.
They drove in silence for several minutes, until Kikuchi finally cleared his throat and said, "About your family..."
"I don't want to talk about it," Onozuka replied curtly, staring out the passenger window, refusing to meet Kikuchi's eyes.
"My dad wasn't too thrilled about me becoming an actor at first, either," Kikuchi said in a casual tone, hoping to get Onozuka to open up to him by revealing a little of his own past. "He was a detective, and he kind of wanted me to follow in his footsteps, but eventually he came around. Now he jokes that even if I never became a cop, at least I played one on TV and in the movies."
Onozuka managed only a halfhearted laugh, still staring out the window.
"You know, there's nothing in your official bio about a sister," Kikuchi said, after another few minutes of silence. Actually, there was practically nothing in Onozuka's bio about his background at all. Kikuchi had dug up some interviews where he was asked about his family, and Onozuka claimed to have had a very ordinary childhood as the son of a businessman and a housewife, but declined to elaborate further because his family preferred to stay out of the public eye. He wasn't yet famous enough for the tabloids to have tracked down his family to discover the truth--or perhaps they had, and found nothing more than a very ordinary, boring, and completely un-newsworthy family. However, Kikuchi found the latter unlikely, since Onozuka seemed to be estranged from his family, and that was always good for at least a minor news story, especially concerning a rising young heartthrob like "the golden prince," as Onozuka had been dubbed in the press.
Onozuka finally turned to face Kikuchi, although it was only to scowl at him and say, "What part of 'I don't want to talk about it' do you not understand?"
"I guess the shine has worn off," Kikuchi said with an exaggerated sigh. "You were always so quick to flatter and smile at me, and now you've turned cold. Are you bored with me, Onozuka-kun?"
"I'm sorry that I snapped at you," Onozuka said gruffly. "But I really don't want to talk about my family. Actually, there's nothing to talk about; we're like strangers to each other."
"That's not what Toshi-chan seems to think," Kikuchi pointed out.
"Toshi-chan, as I'm sure you've noticed, is an idealist rather than a realist," Onozuka replied.
"You seem to know quite a few of those," Kikuchi teased, dropping the subject, since it was clear that Onozuka was not going to talk about his past and that further pressure would only antagonize him, maybe to the point where both the condoms and blood tests would go to waste. Instead, he told the story of how he had discovered that Iwaki had defended him to the director of "Inside Report," which had resulted in him being offered the role of the gang leader in "Yakuza Love Story".
Onozuka relaxed, looking relieved, and gave him a genuine smile. "Yeah, that's Iwaki, noble to a fault," he laughed. "Not that I'm complaining, since we might never have met if you and Miya-chan hadn't worked on that series together."
"Oh, I'm sure that we would eventually have met someday," Kikuchi replied. "But I'm glad that it was sooner rather than later."
"Hey, whatever happened with Kitamura-kantoku's movie?" Onozuka asked. "Have you heard anything about that yet?"
Kikuchi shook his head. "It's been taking a long time to work out the details of the contract with the studio, I guess. Kitamura is used to having full creative control of his films, and the studio is used to having the final say on things, so it's been difficult for them to reach a compromise. But my manager says she heard that the studio is afraid that someone else will snap up Kitamura if they don't sign him, so they'll probably make some concessions in the end. I'll let you know when I get some real details about the movie--I'm hoping that there will be a role appropriate for you."
"Me too," Onozuka said eagerly. "Not that I expect you to recommend me or anything," he hastily clarified. "I'm sure that I can win it on my own merits, and if I can't, then I don't deserve it."
"I feel the same way," Kikuchi agreed. "If I recommend you, people might wonder if I'd auditioned you on the casting couch, so to speak."
Onozuka grinned. "Well, we do a lot of stuff on the couch, but auditioning isn't one of them!"
"Maybe there will be a love scene in the movie that we can rehearse," Kikuchi joked.
"Do you really think that there might be a gay love scene in the movie?" Onozuka asked.
"Probably not," Kikuchi replied. "Most of his movies don't have much emphasis on romance, but it's fun to imagine that there might be."
"Hey, do you ever wonder what it would've been like if we'd been cast in 'Embracing Love'?" Onozuka asked whimsically.
Kikuchi laughed. "Well, it would be fun to do a sex scene with you, but which one of us would play Iwaki?"
Onozuka wrinkled his nose in distaste. "I don't want to be Iwaki, and besides, you're older and have dark hair."
"Well, I don't want to be Iwaki, either," Kikuchi protested. "What about you, are you okay with being Katou?"
"Eh, Katou's a good guy, but he's kind of an idiot," Onozuka said with a shrug. "I guess I don't really want to play either one of them."
"Can you imagine us playing the real Iwaki and Katou?" Kikuchi asked with a grin. He affected a serious look and imitated the smooth, measured tones of Iwaki's voice. "Katou, you mustn't get so jealous just because Kikuchi-san and Miyasaka-kun almost raped me. You should be more noble and forgiving, like I am."
"But Iwaki-saaaan!" Onozuka whined, bouncing up and down in his seat. "I can't stand to have any man lay so much as a fingertip on your precious body! I'll kill those bastards for daring to touch my Iwaki-san! Ooh, now my jealousy has made me so horny that I've got have you right now, Iwaki-san!"
He flung his arms around Kikuchi's neck and they both burst into laughter. "Okay, knock it off before you make me crash the car!" Kikuchi said, still laughing.
Still in Katou-mode, Onozuka pouted, thrusting out his lower lip. "But Kikuchi-saaan, you started it!"
"Now you're starting to scare me, Onozuka-kun," Kikuchi chuckled. "I may have nightmares about waking up to find Katou in my bed instead of you!"
"I haven't even been in your bed yet," Onozuka complained, dropping the Katou imitation to give Kikuchi a sly sideways glance.
That was more like it; Kikuchi would much rather have his sly prince than either the cool, noble Iwaki or the passionate, childish Katou. "Soon," he promised in a seductive voice, taking pleasure in seeing Onozuka's face flush in reaction. "As soon as those test results come back clean."
"You're a sadist, Kikuchi-san," Onozuka groaned.
"That's not to say that we can't still have some fun in the meantime," Kikuchi continued. "Seeing as how we soon won't have any use for those condoms, I was thinking that we could use them up this weekend. But if you're going to call me names..."
"I take it all back, Kikuchi-san," Onozuka said quickly. He leaned over to plant a kiss on Kikuchi's cheek and purr, "Didn't I tell you that you were my childhood hero?"
"Yeah, and it made me feel old," Kikuchi grumbled, and Onozuka looked dismayed for a moment, until Kikuchi grinned and said, "Just kidding."
"You are evil, Kikuchi-san!"
"Well, if you're going to call me names..."

Back at Kikuchi's apartment, Onozuka sat on the couch with his legs splayed apart, panting as Kikuchi slowly, teasingly unrolled a condom down Onozuka's cock...a millimeter at a time, it seemed. Condoms had always been an unpleasant necessity to Onozuka--something to be tolerated because the risk of getting a disease wasn't worth the brief pleasure of unprotected sex. (And halfhearted sex at that, since Onozuka's previous encounters had been with women, mostly for the sake of staving off rumors that he was gay.)
But Kikuchi seemed to turn that simple necessity into an act of foreplay by drawing it out, thereby increasing Onozuka's anticipation. In fact, he had practically turned it into an art form--but then, Kikuchi was the biggest tease that Onozuka had ever met.
"Will you just get on with it already?!" Onozuka demanded.
"You're so impatient, Onozuka-kun," Kikuchi gently scolded, although his eyes gleamed with suppressed laughter.
"And you're a fucking cock-tease, Kikuchi-san," Onozuka groaned accusingly.
Kikuchi recoiled in mock horror and said, "Now, now, your Highness--what would your fans think, to hear such filthy words coming out of your princely mouth?"
Onozuka opened his mouth to make a witty retort, but all that came out was an embarrassingly kitten-like mewl as Kikuchi finally finished putting on the condom and began teasing him with playful little licks and kisses, as if he were determined to live up to Onozuka's accusation.
"Ah...ah...Kikuchi-san...please," Onozuka whimpered, and Kikuchi smiled up at him with a look of smug satisfaction.
"All you had to do was ask nicely," he purred, and Onozuka might have gotten annoyed except that Kikuchi's mouth closed around Onozuka's cock just then, no more teasing, drawing him in deeply, and Onozuka was reduced to incoherent moaning as one hand tangled itself in Kikuchi's hair and the other clawed at the couch. His hips jerked forward in an involuntary spasm, thrusting into Kikuchi's mouth as he came--not as quickly as their first time, but still quick enough for him to be a little embarrassed about it.
"You're so evil, Kikuchi-san," he sighed as he relaxed and slumped back against the couch.
"But isn't that what you like about me?" Kikuchi asked with an unrepentant grin. He climbed back up on the couch to kiss Onozuka and whisper into his ear, "You don't like noble men like Iwaki, right? You want someone evil, like me."
"Yes," Onozuka admitted, laughing as he wrapped his arms around Kikuchi to pull him closer. "I like you very much, you evil man."
"I like you, too, my wicked prince," Kikuchi chuckled, and Onozuka could hear a hint of satisfaction beneath the amusement in his voice.

Afterword: This was just going to be a one or two chapter fic about Kikuchi and Onozuka getting tested so that they could get rid of the condoms and move a step forward in their relationship. I was actually saving up Onozuka's family history for the next fic, but then Toshi started blurting out stuff about Onozuka's sister, and Kikuchi started getting curious, and somehow the family thing turned into a major subplot. Another case of the characters having minds of their own! ^_^ So in the next chapter, we'll learn more about Onozuka's family and why he ran away from home.
