Snapedom essay: Snape and Harry
Oops! I just realized that I forgot to post my Snapedom December banner--so here it is, a few months late! My essay was on the similarities between Snape and Harry, and the frustration I felt that these two characters never really had any reconciliation or closure. (I don't count Harry naming his kid after Snape, although it is a nice gesture, because it's easier to forgive a dead martyr than to make peace with a living person who would probably still be snarky and abrasive even if he survived to become a war hero.)

Also, Harry would have to make the first move; of the two of them, he's got the more generous personality, yet Snape is older and by rights should be the one to make the first move.

And I thought it would be interesting to see how the balance of conflict vs. reconciliation would work out--like Harry would think he's helping Snape by telling everyone the true story behind Snape's loyalty in order to keep him out of Azkaban and let the world know that he's a hero. But instead of being grateful, Snape would be angry and embarrassed that his private and personal memories were made public. And maybe eventually Harry would think, "Well, he's still a greasy git, but at least he's a git on our side."
But that's what fanfic is for, I guess!
