Snapedom banners and essays
Finally upgraded to a Plus Account so I could get additional userpics and use of Scrapbook so I can post pictures to my journal. (I refuse to shell out any money to LJ after the whole strikethrough and boldthrough debacle.) So now I can show off all the lovely
snapedom banners I've earned!
For my non-Snapedom friends,
snapedom is a Snape-centric community for discussion and debate about our favorite Potions Master. Every month there's a different meta challenge to help inspire discussion, and participants receive a beautiful banner. I didn't take part in January's challenge, so I'll start off with my most recent banner and essay, for December 2007 (the theme was "Lily and Severus"):

I thought
karasu_hime might like this one, since I know you like the Severus/Remus/Lily ship--all it's missing is Remus! ;)
And here is my essay, entitled December Challenge: Lily--High Expectations?. It was something I whipped up on short notice, describing how I was rather disappointed by the portrayal of Lily in DH--she came off as rather flat and shallow to me, but perhaps I was expecting too much based on the almost saintly image that had been built up of her up until then. For me, she functioned more as a symbol of motherly love than she did as a 3-dimensional character. I didn't think that I'd said anything terribly controversial, but it generated quite a bit of heated debate. I think that most of the heat was more targeted towards some of the comments than my essay specifically, but apparently Lily-hate and Lily-love run strong in the fandom, and I guess the two were bound to clash.
Next up, the challenge for November 2007, "The Great Snape Escape:"

This one was loads of fun! We were challenged to write fic or meta about how Snape escaped death at the end of DH, so I wrote a short fic excerpt where Fawkes saved Snape. I had trouble staying within the 1000-word fic limit, though, so I had to edit it a bit. The longer version is on my Insane Journal. I'm hoping to incorporate it into a longer post-DH fic later. I just love this banner--it's so beautiful, and it perfectly fits in with the Fawkes-saving-Snape theme in my story! ^_^
And the challenge that started it all: October 2007's "Severus After DH," where we were asked to discuss how Deathly Hallows changed our views of Snape:

You can find my essay here.
So read the essays if you want, or just admire the pretty banners! February's challenge is "Snape and Love," so I'm looking forward to that one!

I feel however that the whole snupin factor has a hard excluding her though. Cause she's took up so much his life. Well unless you write au and make her a friend, or sister. I've seen a similar problem with Sirius so many wrote Sirirus in as Lupin's lover rather than explaining why there not now, or never had been together.Because it was a for gone conclusion that they were both gay. Hell even David, believed Remus was gay. And i still think he is --something wasn't right with tonks/lupin marriage. I fell poor snape wouldn't have been happy if he'd gotten lily at least--canon wise cause i don't think he's been any happier than Remus in the end which is pretty sad.
Anyway I loved the pics and essays' :)
