Slashcast Episode 36
Nov. 9th, 2012 08:03 pmI was just listening to Slashcast Episode 36, which focuses on character death. That usually isn't my cup of tea, but I still enjoyed the discussion. And I was happy to discover that they've added a new segment called the Writer's Corner, in which fanfic authors will discuss the writing process. I love hearing meta-talk from other writers about how they write--sometimes I can pick up a few tips, but even if their methods wouldn't work for me, I still find it interesting to hear how other writers work. I'm looking forward to more Writer's Corners in future segments!
And although I said that I don't usually care for character death fics, there is one awesome Haru wo Daiteita fic that I really love, in which one member of the beloved canon pairing dies (Iwaki), and his partner Katou must learn to carry on without him, with some support from a close friend: As Strong as Life on IJ or A03. (See story headers for more details.) It's really beautiful and touching, and despite the subject matter, very life-affirming.
