I'm finally here on Dreamwidth! I'm the same geri_chan as on LJ and IJ, so feel free to add me if you were on my Friends list there. I've already added a few of you, but I'm still trying to figure out who else is here on DW, so let me know if I've missed you!

Stupid LJ

*Facepalm* I just realized that several of my recent entries have the "Remove this entry friends page and RSS" box checked off, which means they haven't been showing up on the friends pages of my F-list. Which is one reason why they have no comments, I suppose! They were mostly movie/book reviews or random bits of trivia, so I wasn't really surprised--I just figured no one had anything to say about them. And possibly no one would have commented anyway, but it's tough to comment when you don't see the post in the first place!

I think what happened is that I usually set my posts to "Private" at first, so that I can proofread it and edit any mistakes before setting it to "Public," and "Private" seems to have the box checked off by default in the new posting interface (which I really hate, btw--that continuous scroll function is really annoying when I'm trying to edit a long entry). Anyway, for whatever it's worth, I think I've unchecked all the boxes now. There wasn't anything particularly earth-shaking or interesting, but if you are curious about what you missed you can go check out my recent entries.

I'm going to try to keep up with National Blog Posting Month again this year, so I'll start off with the new LJ Friends page:

I hate it. It's ugly and infinite scrolling is problematic for many users, and--most importantly for me--I chose my current layout because I wanted the sidebar list of links and tags, which I use pretty frequently. The new page strips all that away, so thanks a lot LJ--why do you keep fixing things that aren't broken?! >_< See the lj_releases post for more details. They're also bringing back that ugly lj-cut scissors image (that caused such an outrage the last time) in order to make lj-cuts "more difficult to forge"...is this really a big problem?

I guess they're trying to make LJ more like Facebook or Tumblr, but if that was what I wanted, I'd get an actual FB or Tumblr account.

In happier news, I've signed up for Yuletide and am anxiously waiting for my assignment! I've offered a couple of new fandoms that I've never written before, and am a little nervous and excited about the prospect. Or I might get assigned to write one of my old familiar favorites, which would also be great.
