JManga sale extended

Made it through National Blog Posting Month! ^_^ Actually, there are still several book and movie reviews that I had wanted to post but didn't have time to write up, so I will try to get around to that in December (after my Yuletide fic is done).

Just a quick manga news update for today's post: JManga is continuing their "up to 60% off sale" through December. (The sale started in October and was extended through November, and I'm wondering if the continued extensions mean that they're thinking of making the price reduction permanent.) If you sign up for a subscription between 12/1 through 12/27, you'll also get Sherlock Holmes Vol. 1 for free. Which kinda sucks, since I already bought it when I first signed up in October! But it's a good deal for the rest of you out there! It's Sherlock Holmes re-imagined as a shonen manga, with a teenage Sherlock working alongside Watson (a handsome young man with a checkered eyepatch) as a private detective. I haven't finished the book yet, so I'm not sure, but Watson appears to be his guardian. Also, Sherlock is a "shadow user," which means that he can use his shadow as an extension of his senses, for example to examine a crime scene or to spy on a conversation going on in the next room. Obviously it bears very little resemblance to the original books or even the BBC reboot, but it's an interesting read so far.
